Stuff to do for Kids, Mom, and Dad too.

We’re getting into the busy holiday season fraught with shopping, office parties, and other sorts of craziness.  Don’t forget to schedule some fun time though.  Here are a few local ideas:

MomsLike Me PlaydateMomsLikeMe.com is hosting a playdate at The Little Gym of Little Rock on Sunday, December 5th.  This is a great opportunity to let the kids get in some active play, despite the cold weather. There are two different playtimes available, one for babies and toddlers, and one for the older crew.  Dads are welcome to attend as well! My kids live and breathe for The Little Gym, and the MomsLikeMe website has been so instrumental for me in finding friends, fun events, and answers to tough parenting questions. The event is free, but you must register here, and plan to bring a toy and/or nonperishable food items to go toward THV’s Holiday Hero Central.

Santa AND the Kinders – Santa is awfully busy this month making appearances all over town.  Some of our friends have already sat on Santa’s lap more than once this year!  We are planning on meeting up with Santa at Asbury United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 12th 3-5pm.  Not only will Santa be there with games, crafts, and carriage rides; but he will also be joined by Brian and Terri Kinder!  The Kinders are local children’s musicians, and we LOVE singing along with them, live in concert.

Women Bloggers Meetup – This one’s just for the ladies. If you’re a blogger, or are interested in blogging, come out for the Arkansas Women Bloggers Meetup, which is being hosted by the Museum of Discovery on Saturday, December 11th 11am-1pm. The event will feature networking opportunities, short presentations from well known bloggers, and of course, some great door prizes.  Lunch is provided, and the event is free, but you need to RSVP Here if you plan to attend.

Looking Ahead, I’ve got two more events that I recommend marking your calendar for now.

First, LUNA Fest is scheduled for Thursday, February 3rd at the Riverdale 10 Theater.  LUNA Fest is a film festival featuring short films by, for, and about women. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund (15%) and The Women’s Foundation of Arkansas (85%). This is the first film festival of it’s kind in central AR, and will be a great ladies night out!

Second, MOMcation (you knew this was coming, right?) registration is now open.  You can register to attend the weekend retreat, April 29-May 1, for the early bird price of $150.  This is a great opportunity to get away from it all, relax, and meet other moms, and also a great opportunity for dads to spend some quality time with the kiddos.

Of course there are tons and tons of great events going on this month and into the new year.  This is just what is on my radar right now.  Whatever you choose to do this month, I hope you have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.

Wow this sounds like something I’d like to try!

I wonder if they have one of these in Georgia?
