Friday, January 31stYear of the Horse @ Republic Branch Library in Republic, 4:30pm
Grades 4-12. Help ring in the year of the Horse with Asian-inspired games and crafts. Materials provided.

Friday January 31stMy Little Pony Fan Party @ The Library Center in Springfield, 7pm
Grades 6-12. Play My Little Pony trivia, make crafts and participate in activities that let you show off your fandom.

Saturday, February 1st – Kids Workshop @ Home Depot: Build a Race Car, 9:00am-12:00pm
Ages 5 – 12. Teaches children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin. Thank you for registering online to help better plan our craft kit quantities needed.

Saturday, February 1stSoup-er Bowl Saturday @ Midtown Carnegie Branch Library in Springfield, 10am
Age 3 – Grade 2. Take part in Soup-er stories, crafts, activities, and “Stone Soup.” Bring a can of soup to donate to a local food pantry.

Saturday, February 1stDesign-a-Bookmark Workshop @ Willard Branch Library in Willard, 10am
Grades K-5. Develop a winning entry for the Design-a-Bookmark contest at this hands-on workshop where you’ll have access to art supplies, past winning bookmark examples and books to spark your inner bookmark genius.

Saturday, February 1st – Egyptology @ The Library Center in Springfield, 11:30am
Grades K-6. Explore hieroglyphics and pyramids as we discover treasures and stories about Ancient Egypt.

Saturday, February 1stSpringfield Regional Opera presents “The Three Little Pigs” @ The Library Center in Springfield, 1:30pm
Grades K-6. Experience operatic music set to a story that is familiar to most children. Arias and ensembles from “Don Giovanni,” “They are Like That,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” and “The Magic Flute.” Presented in English by students from Drury and Evangel Universities.

February 1st – March 15th – Design-A-Bookmark Contest @ Springfield-Greene County Libraries
Pick up an entry form from any Library branch or Mobile Library and enter your bookmark for a chance to win prizes and recognition! Age devisions are grades K-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12.

Wednesday, February 5th – Winter Bird Walk @ Springfield Conservation Nature Center9-11am.
Ages 7 and up. After a brief introductory program at the nature center by Volunteer Naturalist Charley Burwick, attendees will carpool to Lake Springfield to search for birds that make Lake Springfield their winter home. Dress warmly and bring binoculars if you have them. Call 417-888-4237 to register.
