Friday, February 28th – Egyptology @ The Library Center in Springfield, 2:00pm
Grades K-6. Explore hieroglyphics and pyramids as we discover treasures and stories about Ancient Egypt.

Friday, February 28th – Hot Dog Party with Mo Willems’ Pigeon @ Republic Branch Library,  4pm
Grades K-5. Read “Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog” and party Pigeon-style with crafts and activities.  Materials provided.

Saturday, March 1st – Piggie Party @ Republic Branch Library11am
PreK-Grade 1. Celebrate National Pig Day with Mo Willems’ stories about Elephant and Piggie, games and crafts. Materials will be provided.

Saturday, March 1st – You’re Invited to a Piggie Party! @ Strafford Library1pm
PreK-Grade 2. Help us celebrate National Pig Day with our favorite Mo Willems’ characters, Elephant and Piggie, and we’ll even have ice cream to share! Call 736-9233 t.

Saturday, March 1st – Celebrate Dr. Seuss @ The Library Center in Springfield11am
PreK-Grade 2. Celebrate the wonderful world of Dr. Seuss with crafts and games.

Saturday, March 1st – Build with Books for Read Across America Day @ Fair Grove Library1 5pm
All ages. Celebrate “Read Across America Day” one day early with all things book-related. Show your love of the printed word with book crafts, books about books and by building structures with books. We’ll even set up a domino book display to see who can get the longest domino chain.

Saturday March 1st – The LEGO Movie Building Event @ Barnes and Noble in Springfield, 11am
Ages 4 and up. Build a scene from The LEGO Movie! Space is limited. Ask any bookseller how to sign up.

Saturday, March 1st – Try Hockey For Free @ Mediacom Ice Park in Springfield, 12:30-2pm
Ages 4 and up. Come give hockey a try! Equipment is provided. Wear long pants and bring winter gloves. Coaches will be on the ice. The first 40 kids who register will receive a gift from USA Hockey. Saturday, March 1stBird Banding @ Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 1:30 to 4:30pm
Here is your chance to see some of our avian friends up close! Birds will be captured around the feeding stations and then banded in a location for easy viewing. Stop by anytime.

Monday, March 3rd – It’s a Seuss-a-Rama! @ Ash Grove Library9:30am to 7pm
PreK-Grade 4.In honor of all things Seuss, drop by the Library to help us celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with books, crafts, puzzles and a prize drawing.

Monday, March 3rd – Happy Birthday to Seuss @ Brentwood Branch in Springfield,  3:30pm
Grades K-2. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with “Cat in the Hat” games, Sneetch snacks, Seuss crafts and some of your favorite Seuss stories. Materials will be provided.

Monday, March 3rd – Seuss-tacular Birthday Party @ Willard Library, 3-5pm
Pay homage to the genius responsible for creating some of the most enduring children’s books with a visit to the Library! Stop by anytime between 3 and 5 p.m. to check out your favorite Dr. Seuss books, participate in Seuss-themed activities, make a craft and eat some birthday cake. Materials will be provided.

Monday, March 3rd – Read Across America Storytime @ Barnes and Noble in Springfield, 11am
Join us for a celebration of the National Education Association’s Read Across America, featuring a reading from the exclusive B&N Edition of Green Eggs & Ham, plus fun activities.

Tuesday March 4th – Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! @ Barnes and Noble in Springfield, 10am
Join us as we continue to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. We will read our favorite Seuss stories, have snacks and do activities.

Tuesday, March 4th – Get Hooked @ Midtown Carnegie library branch in Springfield, 3:15pm
Grades 6-12. Learn to knit with a loom to create hats, scarves, wraps and more. Already know how to loom knit? Come in to create something new.

Wednesday, March 5th – “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” @ Midtown Carnegie library branch in Springfield, 3:30pm
Grades 6-12. Revisit an old friend and celebrate Dr. Seuss Day in the teen room. We’ll read our favorite Seuss books, then you’ll create your own rhyming Seussalike while we share some Seussel snacks.

Thursday, March 6thCrappie Fishing For Beginners @  Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 6:30-8pm
Ages 12 and up.Crappie fishing is a favorite pastime for many anglers in the Ozarks. Whether you fish during winter or wait for them to spawn in the spring, crappie can be caught throughout the year. Join Table Rock Fisheries Biologist Shane Bush and Outdoor Skills Specialist Greg Collier as we explore when, where, and how to catch one of the Ozarks favorite panfish.
