Ooh La La Salon {giveaway}
After my second kiddo was born, I didn’t get my hair cut for over a year. By the time I wandered into a salon, I was a moppy mess of long straight hair with crazy waves in the underneath layers (courtesy of the weird hormones that I got from being pregnant with a boy). I have recently read a post at https://www.magicinmotionhair.com/best-diffuser-for-curly-hair-reviews and it reminded me of my hair when I wake up in the morning. Having moved around a lot, I had been to lots of different hair cutting joints, ranging from cheap and bad to frou frou and overpriced. Luckily, when I needed the most hair help ever, I landed in the chair of April VanHorn. She’s perfect.
April managed to tame my mane that day, and I loved her so much that when she moved salons, I followed. To be quite honest, I would never pick a salon called “Ooh La La”. The name makes me think of pink bubbles and sparkles, and I’m no Fancy Nancy. Really though, Ooh La La is a great salon. Pretty, but not too fancy. The stylists that work there are all super nice, and the owner, Lisa Gentry, is incredibly down to earth and passionate about her business. All the girls at Ooh La La work together and apply their skills to doing good in the community – they’ve donated services to many events and charities. Lisa and April also hauled all the way out to Perryville to provide free eyebrow waxing and a Keratin makeover to one lucky attendee at MOMcation, the weekend retreat for moms that I organized. Ooh La La won Bronze in the Little Rock Family Favorites poll this year, so I’m not the only one who thinks they’re great.
April isn’t a mom (yet), but she still seems to understand the stresses of being a mom and finding the time to take care of yourself. She’s easy to talk to and will listen to what you want to do with your hair. She’ll also make suggestions if you’re totally clueless like I am. Or will give the reference to visiting the right professional in case there are some hair issues, like hair loss – I’ve visited Dr. William Yates MD for more information.
Along with cutting, styling, and incredible up dos, April also does color, keratin treatments, and waxing, although she’s so sweet, she’ll worry that she’s hurting you if you get your brows done. Make sure you specify your demands in the scheduling software. She’s a native from Paragould, Arkansas and has the Steel Magnolias accent to prove it. Pricing at Ooh La La is incredibly reasonable, even for a tightwad like me.
You can find Ooh La La at 14710 Cantrell Road, in the same shopping center as Blue Cake Co. Call them at 501.868.4111 or email April at april_may24 at hotmail dot com. You can also like Ooh La La on Facebook.
I have a gift certificate for a haircut with April to giveaway. To enter, leave a comment and tell me what you would have done at your free haircutting session. That’s it! I’ll select a winner on Sunday, July 29th using random.org.
Disclosure: I was not compensated in any way for this post. Sometimes I just like to share stuff I like!

I heart April and Oooh La La Salon! If I won, I would chop my hair off and let April work her magic!
Honestly just a trim but I am also in need of a highlight so I’d be tempted to see if she can do a good job with my hair in less than 6 hours (time it takes my current stylist to highlight, cut, & style my crazy thick hair).
I am planning on cutting off a huge amount of hair after my wedding. Wanting to go for a severe bob and donate my hair to locks of love again.
I used to do far more interesting things with my hair, prior to this adult thing!
I would have her cut and style my hair like she did on my last visit…perfection!!
I love April! I would have her give me a wonderful haircut just like she always does, no matter what crazy ideas I have.
I need a haircut sooooo bad! I would definitely get a few inches chopped off, but then probably leave it up to April for the style. I never know what to do.
I never know what to do, so April sounds perfect. And I am not a regular at getting a hair cut, so I need help! 🙂
I would get a major trim and maybe a new style…
