Visit the Springfield Conservation Nature Center

Springfield Conservation Nature Center

It might be a little too cold to enjoy the 79 acres of forest, glade, woodland, prairie plantings, creeks, and frontage on Lake Springfield that you can find at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, but every day is a great day to check out the visitors center on the Nature Center’s campus.  In addition to rotating art exhibits, the nature center also has a multi-sensory, self-guided exhibit area that is fun and educational for all ages.  Stop by and check it out, and if you time your visit right, you can also take advantage of one of the many free educational programs presented at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center each week.  Building hours are:

  • November 1 to February 29: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday
  • March 1 to October 31: Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Closed Monday.

If you have a free event that you’d like to share, please let me know!

  1. Lots of good stuff this weekend! Not free, but we’re going to see Music Man Jr at Spfd Little Theater with a gift certificate that we got for Christmas. The Nature Center is a great place for indoor play! The puppet area is good for containing smaller kids, since it’s mostly enclosed and there are lots of things to play with.
