Booklist: Back to School

Booklist: Back to School

Introducing a new post series and a new contributing writer!  Meet Meredith Neesvig, who will be posting booklists designed to help you find some great titles to share with your kids! School is starting in our neck of the woods this week and I thought it only fitting to share some of my absolute favorite back-to-school books.  As an elementary school librarian for the past 9 years, I have seen the good, the bad, and the … Read entire article »

Cruising with Disney

At the end of May, we took our most epic family vacation ever, a 14 day transatlantic cruise on the Disney Magic.  We planned, booked, and saved for our trip nearly a year in advance.  In that time, we’ve gotten lots of questions about the cruising with Disney.  So, I’ve decided to do a series of posts about our trip.  Below is a post that Craig wrote and originally posted on another blog last summer about planning our trip. Extreme SEAL Experience Review

This is a guest post from my husband, Craig, who recently attended the Extreme SEAL Experience. I wrote this review the day after the US Navy SEALs terminated Osama Bin Laden.  Twenty-four SEALs, presumably three patrols of eight, successfully accomplished their mission.  After attending the Extreme SEAL Experience (ESE) in April 2011 (ESE 411) – I have a better understanding and appreciation for the SEALs’ expertise, ability and efficiency.  My experience was ‘pretend’ and for ‘fun’ … Read entire article »

Arkansas Women Bloggers Meetup – a success!

Last Sunday, the Arkansas Women Bloggers had our first meetup.  It was a great event that I’m sure will lead to many more blogger get-togethers around the state. The entire two hours was filled to the brim with meeting, eating, and learning about blogging. I also got to recap the event as a guest blogger over at the Museum of Discovery’s Blog, if you want to hear more about this blog-tastic event. … Read entire article »

A Newbie’s Experience with Race for the Cure

Welcome guest blogger Stephannie Baker, who recently completed her first ever 5k at Arkansas Race for the Cure... If you had asked me one year ago if I was a runner, I would have told you that I am just not biologically cut out for it.  I have always been relatively fit but not athletic.  Sure, I can handle some yoga, some weight training.  But cardio?  Not so much.  I was that girl at the gym who would run on a treadmill for about 1 minute and get so out of breath that my ribs would hurt and my thighs would itch.  I really just assumed there was something wrong with me. But I love obstacle courses, at it brings some kind of adventure into my life. You will get what I … Read entire article »
