After School Snack: Banana Stacks!

After School Snack: Banana Stacks!

It is always such a joy to share Kristen Feola’s writing on my blog – I can always depend on her for something nourishing, whether it be for the heart or the tummy.  Today it’s the latter! “Can I have a snack?” If you’re a parent, you’ve probably fielded this question more times than you can count. I know I have. In fact, it’s usually the first sentence I hear when I pick my kids up from school. Not, … Read entire article »

DIY I-Spy Craft

DIY I-Spy Craft

Sarah is one of the craftiest gals I know.  She’s sharing a fun project idea that will make your kiddo’s day AND get the junk drawer clean in the process.  Oh, and it’s a recycle/reuse project too. This girl is pushing all my happy buttons! Sometimes presenting something old in a different way is just the thing to get kids interested in it again. We had a bunch of colored rice hanging out in a bin that … Read entire article »

A Day in the Life of a Professional Organizer

A Day in the Life of a Professional Organizer

Today, Pro Organizer Holly Shacklett is taking us behind the scenes with her in her career as a professional organizer.  I’m both thankful for the great tips and also a little jealous – I love to purge stuff – especially other people’s stuff!  As a small business owner so many of my days are spent on the business side of things. The Most Popular Girl in the Frat House

The Most Popular Girl in the Frat House

Tricia Oakes is my first guest poster for the month!  I met her at a blog conference when she let me crash her dinner reservations, and we’ve been bloggy buddies ever since.  Here, she shares the joys of being the only penis-free person in her family. I often joke that I live in a fraternity house. I’m the only girl in a sea of testosterone and toy guns, tractors, robots, and Legos, and Wee Frat Boys. … Read entire article »

3 Day Juice Cleanse/Fast: Part 2 – The Review

3 Day Juice Cleanse/Fast: Part 2 – The Review

This post has taken me a lot longer to get to than originally intended, but I think it’s all for the better – it’s been nine days since our juice cleanse ended, and it’s given me time to “return to normal” and figure out what folks seem to be most curious about in relation to doing a juice cleanse. So, this post contains our experiences and opinions about our first cleanse. It is organized by … Read entire article »

Self-Centered Sunday: The Opera

A few nights ago, my friend Nancy and I were talking about how our daughters are likely to get involved in drama/theatre as they grow up, and I started reminiscing about Carina and Callen’s early forays into stage performance. Today, the Super Bowl is on, and I’m more interested to see the commercials than the game.  4 million dollars a piece. It’s always interesting to me that no one really seems to remember what the most-buzzed commercials were actually selling. So, if Carina and Callen were to be in a Super Bowl commercial, one that really showcases their talent as performers and the dynamic between them, it would be this: And yes, she is singing about a bee stinging a baby. I posted this on our family blog three years ago.  Back then … Read entire article »
