A Day in the Life of a Professional Organizer

A Day in the Life of a Professional Organizer

Today, Pro Organizer Holly Shacklett is taking us behind the scenes with her in her career as a professional organizer.  I’m both thankful for the great tips and also a little jealous – I love to purge stuff – especially other people’s stuff!  As a small business owner so many of my days are spent on the business side of things. Typically, I have a very big work order, and I spend most of my time … Read entire article »

The Most Popular Girl in the Frat House

The Most Popular Girl in the Frat House

Tricia Oakes is my first guest poster for the month!  I met her at a blog conference when she let me crash her dinner reservations, and we’ve been bloggy buddies ever since.  Here, she shares the joys of being the only penis-free person in her family. I often joke that I live in a fraternity house. I’m the only girl in a sea of testosterone and toy guns, tractors, robots, and Legos, and Wee Frat Boys. … Read entire article »

March: Rolling out the Welcome Mat

March: Rolling out the Welcome Mat

My friends, this may be the longest I have ever gone between blog posts.  February has been wild and crazy, what with preparing to open up Little Grins Dental and all. And while I haven’t been able actually type at the keyboard much, I have been blogging and plotting in my head for these past three weeks like nobody’s business. So, this post contains our experiences and opinions about our first cleanse. It is organized by … Read entire article »

Self-Centered Sunday: The Opera

A few nights ago, my friend Nancy and I were talking about how our daughters are likely to get involved in drama/theatre as they grow up, and I started reminiscing about Carina and Callen’s early forays into stage performance. Today, the Super Bowl is on, and I’m more interested to see the commercials than the game.  4 million dollars a piece. It’s always interesting to me that no one really seems to remember what the most-buzzed commercials were actually selling. So, if Carina and Callen were to be in a Super Bowl commercial, one that really showcases their talent as performers and the dynamic between them, it would be this: And yes, she is singing about a bee stinging a baby. I posted this on our family blog three years ago.  Back then … Read entire article »

3 Day Juice Cleanse/Fast: Part 1 – The Process

3 Day Juice Cleanse/Fast: Part 1 – The Process

Right around New Year’s I was doing some Pinterest WORK when I came across a pin for Dr. Oz’s 3 Day Detox Cleanse.  I have been interested in doing a juice detox cleanse for quite some time, and especially so since my hormones went all haywire when I stopped taking birth control.  I asked Craig, half jokingly, if he wanted to do a juice cleanse, and he said simply, “Yes.”  So, I started researching.  I … Read entire article »
