All You Need to Know About the Duck Duck Goose Sale {giveaway}

Whew!  I just finished entering all my items for the Fall Duck Duck Goose (DDG) consignment sale.  We are doing a serious purge this go-round, so I am maxed out on the 100 item limit.  It’s a little funny that I’m consigning at all.  When we moved to Arkansas three years ago, I had never heard of a consignment sale.  Now, when it comes to selling the stuff that my kids have grown out of, I feel like an old pro. I’m getting pretty good at shopping the sales too!

With over 100,000 items for sale including clothes, shoes (my favorite), toys, gear, and well, pretty much everything you need to outfit your kids til they’re ready to leave the house, it’s a fantastic one-stop shopping opportunity.  The fall sale also includes Halloween Costumes!  In general, you can look to save about 70% off of retail for gently used items, all of which are checked for quality.

The big sale is open to the public Thursday 9/15 through Saturday 9/16 starting at 7am. It is located at the State Fairgrounds, in the Hall of Industry. There are some great special events going on throughout the sale too:

  • Wendesday Sept. 14: First Time Mom Event 7-9 pm.  If you are a new first time mom or are currently pregnant, you get to shop before the sale opens to the public!  You need to have an exclusive pass to get in though.  Guess what?  I’ve got one for you!  You can download it here.
    • Thursday, Sept 15: Jr Rush 4-8pm (shopping for Jrs and Teens). Jrs and Teens are welcome to shop anytime, but on Thursday night there will be giveaways and vendors just for teens.
    • Thursday, Sept 15th: Duck Duck Goose AFTER HOURS 5-8pm.  Due to popular demand, DDG is open late so working moms can get their shop on too!
    • Friday, Sept 16th: Early Bird HALF PRICE Party  7-9pm. The public sale goes half price on Saturday morning, but early birds can snag those half price worms on Friday night! Admission is $3 per person.

As a consigner, I love watching my sale earnings go up in real time via my phone.  Now, shoppers can get in on the mobile phone action too.  Just text “DDG” to 90210 to join The Mobile “Duck Club”.  You’ll get exclusive passes, coupons, and contests delivered straight to your cell phone.

DDG is Arkansas’ original consignment sale.  It started 18 years ago in owner Cindy Brantley’s garage.  It’s grown substantially, but it’s still a family affair; Cindy’s husband and three grown children all work the sales. In addition to serving the needs of the consigners and shoppers who take part in the sales, DDG also partners with family-oriented charities including  DHS, The CALL of Arkansas, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters to donate unsold items.

I love DDG Consignment not only for the deals and the opportunity to sell my kids’ stuff, but because they are a locally-owned, family-based business that is green (hello, mass-resource recycling!) and also benefits local agencies and charities that serve those in need.
