Free Fun for Families: Oct 24-29

I’m a bit late on publishing this post for the week, but there are still lots of fun things to do in Central Arkansas that are FREE!

October 26-28Pumpkin Carving Contest @ Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Have your pumpkin on display at Pinnacle Mountain State Park for the Halloween weekend! Carve your pumpkin entry into a scene, activity, landform, plant, or animal found at the park. If enough pumpkins are entered between October 26 and 28, they will be lit and featured on the hayride route for hayride guests to enjoy as nighttime falls. Winners will receive fabulous prizes such as spots on the Halloween Hayrides or other programs, boat rentals, and other unique opportunities.

October 27 – 16th Annual Big Boo!-seum Bash @ Various Museums 6 PM – 8:30 PM
A Howling Ghoul Time! It’s the 16th Annual Big Boo!-seum Bash, where kids can enjoy a safe and fun Halloween with Story-telling, Trick-or-treating, and Fun and games.

Support the Arkansas Foodbank by bringing non-perishable food items to participating museums to enter for a chance to win prizes. Hosted by The Greater Little Rock Museum Consortium and sponsored by the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Friday-Saturday October 28-29Robotics Demonstrations @ The Clinton Center 10:00am – 2:00pm
In partnership with the Science and Technology Group and FIRST® LEGO® League, the Clinton Center will showcase LEGO® MINDSTORMS Robotics. Arkansas FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) teams will present their robotic designs and demonstrate their problem solving skills, creative thinking and teamwork. The demonstrations are free and open to the public. Demonstrations will be held every hour.

Saturday, October 29Halloween Season Fun @ Petit Jean State Park near Morrilton
Park staff offers family-friendly activities to celebrate the spooky season. Costumes are welcome. Contact the park for a detailed schedule of events. Admission is free. Phone: 501-727-5441 e-mail: petitjean@arkansas.com.

Saturday, October 29Tai Chi Play Day @ Jacksonville Community Center 11am – 1pm
by the fountain area behind the Farmers’ Market. Tai Chi is a wellness exercise program designed to work muscles, organs and systems of the body. Kids will play traditional Tai Chi Forms, as well as Tai Chi for Health Forms, including the Arthritis Foundation’s Tai Chi for Arthritis Program. For info: 825-8126.
