Free Fun For Families: Nov 7-13

Thursday, November 10 Live @ Laman  7:00pm
An evening of musical fun featuring Artistry of the Guitar: Steve Davison, Ken Bonfield, and Micky Rigby.  Feel free to bring a blanket and snacks. (The event is outside in nice weather and inside when it’s too cold!)

Friday-Saturday, November 11-12Robotics Demonstrations @ The Clinton Center 10:00am – 2:00pm
In partnership with the Science and Technology Group and FIRST® LEGO® League, the Clinton Center will showcase LEGO® MINDSTORMS Robotics. Arkansas FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) teams will present their robotic designs and demonstrate their problem solving skills, creative thinking and teamwork. The demonstrations are free and open to the public. Demonstrations will be held every hour.

Friday, November 11 – Christmas Eve – Visit Santa @ McCain Mall in NLR & Park Plaza Mall in LR
Kids are invited to visit with Santa, who will be at the malls daily from Nov. 11 through Christmas Eve. Visits are free, but photo packages are available for purchase. Hours vary.

Saturday, November 12 – Come celebrate the Clinton Center’s Seventh Anniversary with free admission to the library, free Acoustiguide audio tours narrated by President Clinton and free family activities

Saturday, November 12Lil’ Wild Ones @ Witt Stephens Nature Center 2pm
This class for kids ages 4-8 is held on the second Sat. of each month through the school year at 2 p.m. Kids will explore the wildlife and habitats in Arkansas through hands-on activities. For info: 907-0636.

Saturday, November 12 Life on the Homefront: Fall 1861 @ The Old Statehouse Museum 10am-4pm
The Old State House Museum will recreate life in Arkansas during the first year of the Civil War. Life on the home front will be explored as living historians portray civilians, soldiers, and politicians dealing with the realities of secession and war. Visitors will have an opportunity to experience issues such as shortages and currency instabilities, recruiting soldiers and equipping them, electing representatives and senators for the new Confederate national government in Richmond, dissent and disloyalty to the Confederate cause, and more. Children will also enjoy hands-on activities and old fashioned games.

Sunday, November 13Full Moon Walk Over Big Dam Bridge 6pm-7:30pm
Join members of the community in a walk over the Big Dam Bridge promoting health and fitness under the full moon. The walk starts from both sides of Big Dam Bridge at 6 p.m. The event will include live entertainment and giveaways, including T-shirts, recyclable bags and healthy snacks. Free shuttles from parking lots at Murray Park and Cooks Landing/North Shore will start at 5 p.m. For info and to register: BigDamBridge.org.

The Little Beginnings toddler program is for children ages 2 through 4 with parent. Each month the class will highlight a different topic and promote learning through hands-on activities, music making, movement and storytelling.Call (501) 324-9685 for more information.
