Red Clay Home {giveaway}

Red Clay Home {giveaway}

As an aspiring tree-hugger, I’m always excited to learn about companies who are working hard to provide unique, sustainable products.  So, when I heard about Red Clay Home, I was intrigued.  The company’s online store features ceramics, art prints, and textiles in eye-popping, modern colors and designs – a far cry from the normally neutral/muted color schemes that most “green” products wear in an attempt to reassure the consumer that the product is, in fact, … Read entire article »

STP Multipurpose Motor Treatment Review #engineluv #CBias

This is a guest post by my husband, Craig, who takes care of our vehicles. I enjoy taking care of the basic maintenance needs for our vehicles – a 2005 Acura TSX and 2004 Toyota Tacoma.  When I say ‘basic’ I mean the easy stuff like changing the oil, spark plugs, air filters, using a wireless ratchet like these to tighten the bolts and topping off fluids. I get our children involved whenever I do these things … Read entire article »

Our Nissan Leaf Test Drive

Our Nissan Leaf Test Drive

What has no engine but can travel at 90 miles per hour?  A Leaf!  The Nissan Leaf, the first fully electric mass-produced car, is making it’s way onto the streets.  Last weekend my family traveled to Memphis, Tennessee to get an up close look and a test drive at the Drive Electric Tour. The Nissan Leaf has a lot of features that appeal to my lifestyle as a mom (aka kid taxi). Range: The Leaf can travel about … Read entire article »

All You Need to Know About the Duck Duck Goose Sale {giveaway}

All You Need to Know About the Duck Duck Goose Sale {giveaway}

Whew!  I just finished entering all my items for the Fall Duck Duck Goose (DDG) consignment sale.  We are doing a serious purge this go-round, so I am maxed out on the 100 item limit.  It’s a little funny that I’m consigning at all.  When we moved to Arkansas three years ago, I had never heard of a consignment sale.  Now, when it comes to selling the stuff that my kids have grown out of, … Read entire article »

Buying a Cow (or part of one)

Buying a Cow (or part of one)

In February we are enjoying our One Small Change at dinner time, mostly. In January we purchased an eighth of a “locally grown” cow.  Actually, the cow came from Southwest Missouri, just like our locally grown veggies.  Funnily ironic.  Anyhow, I was very excited when our friends Ashlee & Rodney offered us the opportunity to get a portion of a cow from their family’s cow.  At first, I was concerned about how much space that much … Read entire article »

A Politically Charged Rant

Let me just say, first, that I am not into politics.  I have my opinions, and I exercise my right to vote, but overall, I am not overly impressed with the world of politics and the people who wallow around in it. That said, something about the elections this year is really bothering me.  Maybe it’s always been this way and I’ve never noticed.  I do manage to keep myself pretty sheltered.  I very rarely watch the news, or any other real-time TV for that matter, which means I also schwink right through all those political mud-slinging commercials.  I don’t have a land line (home phone) so I don’t get any of those annoying recorded messages, although I have seen plenty of people complaining about them on Facebook this year.  But, … Read entire article »
