Motherhood: A Day in The Life #1 – Karen

Motherhood: A Day in The Life #1 – Karen

This Is My Life It’s 5:15am and the rooster is crowing at me that it is time to get up. Thankfully this rooster is on my phone and comes with a handy dandy snooze button.  But when he starts back up ten minutes later, I roll out of bed and start my day. Hi, I’m Karen.  I’m a wife to Hubby.  I’m a mom to Ting (age 3.5), and Bug (11 months).  I’m a full-time working girl. … Read entire article »

Motherhood: A Day in the Life

What do you do? What DID you do before you had kids? How was your day? Isn’t it easier being a working mom? I’ve been asked all these questions directly.  They always feel loaded, even if they aren’t.  In these modern times, motherhood is a huge balancing act.  In our purest role as mothers, we are providing a customized, individualized, 24/7 on-call, volunteer service to tiny, adorable, demanding, intelligent, passive-agressive clients. And then we have our own lives and possibly a “second job” on top of that.  Acts of Motherhood are performed with a million different variables coming into play. Each mother does things at least a little differently than the next, but there is one huge thing that ties us all together: we are all mothers. I am a Kung Fu Master & Other Things to Avoid Saying When Applying for a Job

Today’s guest blogger is Sarah from East 9th Street.  She’s a full time working mama living in the Chicago area – a perfect person to post on what is a cold, snowy day here at my house. For the last 15 years I have sifted through resume after resume looking for awesomesauce candidates to join my the various organizations I have worked for. The way applicants … Read entire article »

A Peek At Easter

A Peek At Easter

Nancy and I met through PTA, quickly figured out that we are both writers, have little boys the same age, and that *gasp* we are both bloggers.  It doesn’t sound that significant, but it would if you lived here in our small town.  I’m so excited to know Nancy and call her a real life friend, and to be sharing her writing with you today. Living away from extended family has its perks… for example, no … Read entire article »

5 Tips for Saving More at the Grocery Store

5 Tips for Saving More at the Grocery Store

Today’s blogger, Renae Chiovaro, and I were roomies at the Type-A blogger conference last summer even though we had never met before.  Lucky for me, Renae is super nice, and we study many of the same subjects, like raising rowdy kids, saving money, and working with dentists! The price of groceries has been steadily on the rise over the last few years. Meat prices continue to rise as the price of grain increases. With a few … Read entire article »

Talking to My Teenager, Kinda

Talking to My Teenager, Kinda

Today’s guest blogger is Angie Albright. I love her because she is funny and frank and because she and I are two of the few who have broken the covenant of people with “real” English degrees by venturing into blogging. I am the mother of a 16-year-old boy. I’m not dead yet but my hair is getting grayer at a faster pace than it was two years ago. Parents moan and groan all the time about … Read entire article »
