Free Fun For Families: January 29 – February 5

Sunday, January 29A Mile In Their Shoes @ Forest Heights Middle School, 1pm-3pm
All ages can stop by Scott Field Track at Forest Heights Middle School to run or walk one last mile in their athletic shoes before donating the kicks to be recycled or given to those in need. Kids shoes are especially needed, so families are encouraged to participate.

Monday, January 30The Story of Your Life Writing Workshop @ Laman Library, Argenta Branch, 6:00pm
Led by author, editor, and publisher Paula Morell, this workshop will help you to find your own life stories to share. For all ages and stages of writing. Admission is free. Pre-registration is required. Call (501) 687-1061.

Wednesday, February 1 – Storytime @ Barnes & Noble in West Little Rock, 11:00am
Barnes & Noble staff will be reading Ten Grouchy Groundhogs by Katherine Helig and Deborah Hembrook.

Thursday, February 2 –  It’s a woodchuck, it’s a whistle pig—it’s a GROUNDGHOG @ Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center, 11:00am-12:00pm
Learn more about the groundhog’s actual role in nature, explore the workings of the hibernator’s underground burrow, and find out what his spring weather prediction is for this year!

Friday, February 3Meet Lego Artist Nathan Sawaya @ Clinton Presidential Center, 7:00pm-9:00pm
This kid-friendly event features lawyer-turned-artist Nathan Sawaya as he shares how a childhood favorite became the inspiration and the medium for his amazing and intricate 3D artwork. Saturday, February 4Free Kid’s Workshop @ Your Local Home Depot, 9:00am – 12:00 pm
These workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety, and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment. All kids get to keep their craft and receive a FREE Kids Workshop Apron, commemorative pin and certificate of achievement. This month’s project is a Keepsake Box! Workshops are designed for children ages 5 – 12.
